Myrtle Swenson was born Feb. 17, 1919, in Darling Township, Morrison County, MN, to the late Hugo and Hildegard Nelson. She grew up and attended school in the Little Falls area. Myrtle was united in marriage to George Swenson on Jan. 8, 1939, in Minneapolis, MN. The couple made their home in Minneapolis from 1939 to 1942. Myrtle worked for Munsingwear, Stockholm Café and the Ammunition Plant in New Brighton, MN. In 1942, Myrtle and George moved to Little Falls and purchased a farm in Pike Creek Township. Myrtle worked with her husband on the farm and for a short time in the Morrison County Courthouse as a treasury clerk. George died in 2002. Myrtle was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls. She enjoyed reading, bowling, gardening, picking agates and doing volunteer work at the Little Falls Senior Center.
Survivors include sons, Wayne Swenson and wife Katherine of Eden Prairie, MN, Dean Swenson and wife Mary of Little Falls; daughter, Annette Sumner and husband Joe of Deer Park, WA; brothers, Lennard Nelson and wife Agnes of Little Falls; sisters, Mabel Larson of Little Falls, Marian Eystad of St. Louis Park, MN, Margaret Nelson of St. Paul, MN; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband George; son, Alan Swenson in 1990; parents; brother, Wilbur Nelson; sisters, Gladys Jungbauer and Signe Knutson.
