Virginia Fields Hill, 86, left this earthly life on Feb. 4, 2011, at Robin Johnson Hospice House.
Virginia was the daughter of the late Herschel and Laura Ross Fields.
She was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church and attended Southside Baptist Church for many years.
Virginia was a wonderful mother, grandmother and aunt. She had many talents; she was an accomplished seamstress, crafter and had a "green thumb."
She is survived by her only daughter, Cathey and son-in-law Dave Harris of Gastonia, she had two grandchildren: Jamie Mitchell and wife Jonna, with daughter Kasi of Hendersonville, NC; and Amy Ballard and husband, Rodney with great grandchildren, Rhett and Cole of Gastonia, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, (Tiny) James Franklin Hill for 67 years, 6 brothers and 5 sisters. She has one surviving sister, Margie Huffstetler.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia, with the Rev. James Barnes officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
