Two Pension applications on file. Filed for first pension on September 22, 1865, only 10 days after his discharge, application number 90,058, certificate 97,695. Filed for a pension on July 22, 1914, application number 1,330,106.

Mr. Poland had been a resident of Colorado since April 1900. Funeral
services will be held from Macy's chapel Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock with interment at Linn Grove where his wife is also buried.
Poland was born in Greene County PA, and came to Colorado where he located north of Denver. In 1905 he homestead 29 miles northeast of Greeley and moved to the city in 1918. He lived here with her daughter, Mrs. A. E. Holick until about a year ago when he took up his residence with his son.
He enlisted in Company A of the 18th Pennsylvania cavalry in 1862 and served for three years in the Civil War, being mustered out in 1865. He has one brother, Daniel Poland, living in Clarinda IA and a half sister Mrs. Emma Blout of Lincoln Nebr.
Other survives in Addison to Mrs. Holick and O. E. Poland are David Poland, Powersville MO; Mrs. Lucy Waters, Ellenburg, WA; G. C. Poland, West Pawnee, C. E. Poland Longmont , G. W. Poland Galeton, 28 grandchildren and 20 great grand children. His wife died on the ranch which was homestead on March 2, 1917
