Harold was born on March 5, 1922, the son of Marion R. and Helen Luetta (Henkle) Alcott, in a logging camp on East Crooked Lake, Hubbard County, Minnesota. In 1940 he graduated from Garrison High School, Garrison, Iowa. Harold married Doris L. Richardson of Marengo, Iowa, on March 9, 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri. His sister, Ruby Faye Alcott was also married the same time and place to John Herbert "Herb" Kellogg.
Harold was a Veteran of World War II, serving in General Patten's Army and fought in France, Germany, and Austria. He was awarded a Bronze Star, as well as many other metals.
Some of Harold's occupations were as a Benton County Road maintainer operator and a salvage recycler for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; sisters, Lillian (Mearl) Jones, Ruby (Herb) Kellogg, Florence (Jim) Thompson; stillborn brother, Alfred Mearl Alcott; and special friend, Jo Ann Fiester, widow of "Dick" Fiester.

Harold and Doris were the parents of Billie L. (Glen) Rammelsberg, and Harold "Ivan" (Mary) Alcott. He was the grandfather of five; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
