J. Delaney Edwards, 79, of Chattanooga, died Sunday Nov. 2, 2003, at his home.

He was originally from Shelbyville, Tenn. but had been a resident of Lookout Valley for 47 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and was retired from the Electric Power Board after 30 years of service. He was a long-time member of the Friendship Class of Wauhatchie United Methodist Church.

He was the son of the late Vasco and Earlene Edwards. A daughter, Danita Corbitt, six brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Edwards; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Preston Fairfax of Pulaski, Tenn.; Barby and Tom Wade of Maryville, Tenn.; one son-in-law, Hank Corbitt; one grandson, Michael Wade; two step-grandsons, Jay Wade and Davy Corbitt; one step-great-grandson, Nolan Corbitt; two brothers, Frank Edwards of Belfast, Tenn.; and Don Edwards of Shelbyville, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the East Chapel with Rev. Ron Abbott and Rev. Harry Snyder officiating.

Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412.
