Born Grace Schmidt in Owings Mills, she was a 1936 Franklin High School graduate and earned a nursing degree in 1941. A year later, she married Ross Z. Pierpont, a surgeon who was active in Republican politics.
Mrs. Pierpont worked as a nurse for a decade until her daughter was born in 1951. She then did volunteer work for Roland Park Country School, Grace United Methodist Church, the Women's Auxiliary of Maryland General Hospital, the Baltimore Opera Guild, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Golfer's Charitable Association, where she was chairwoman for many years.
She served several terms as president of the Women's Auxiliary of Maryland General Hospital and the Women's Auxiliary of the Southeastern Surgical Convention. She was also a member of the Three Arts Club of Homeland and the Hopkins Republican Women's Club.
As a young woman, she taught Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reisterstown. She later was a Grace United Methodist Church member.
Mrs. Pierpont won golfing awards as a member of the Baltimore Country Club. In 1978, she received the high-point trophy from the Women's Golf Association of Baltimore. She also helped run the Ladies Professional Golf Association tournament.
She enjoyed gardening and travel. She accompanied and assisted her husband on his political campaigns.
Services will be held in Germany on Monday.
Survivors include her daughter, Christine P. von Klencke of Germany; a brother, John A. Schmidt of Finksburg; and four grandchildren. Her husband of 63 years died in 2005.
