Herbert S. 'Herb' Mueller, 97, Jefferson
JEFFERSON - Herbert S. "Herb" Mueller, 97, of Jefferson, died on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Heritage Homes Assisted Living in Watertown.

Born on Jan. 7, 1914, in North Prairie, to John and Catherine (Sherman) Mueller, he married Alma Adascheck on Nov. 26, 1938, in North Prairie. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2006.

He was a very active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jefferson, serving on the church council and board of education for 18 years. He served on the stewardship board since 1970, and was a Men's Club member since 1949 and a member of the choir for 44 years.

Herb farmed for over 20 years, and owned and operated his own engine and motor repair shop for 15 years. He worked at the former Ladish Malting Company in Jefferson for 15 years and at the former Carnation Company, now Nestle Purina Pet Care, in Jefferson for 13 years. He served on the Jefferson Common Council for two terms and served on the Zoning Board of Appeals.

He was also active in 4-H for many years.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathryn (Bill) Banbury of Lake Mills; two sons, Richard (Linda) Mueller and Gerald (Joyce) Mueller, both of Jefferson; eight grandsons, Matthew Banbury, Tim (Amy), Dan, Jonathon (Melinda), David (Tina), Andrew (Tina), Benjamin (Jennifer) and Joel Mueller; three granddaughters, Shelly (Mark) McCoy, Lori Mueller, and Heidi Kolehouse; six step-grandchildren, Robert, Daniel, Dean, Michelle, Deanna, and Kenneth Grassman; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marie Mueller of Fort Atkinson and Sophie Gruenenwald of Lake Mills; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald Mueller; two sisters, Ruth Wonoski and Evelyn Rohrmayer; and one brother, Lyle Mueller.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jefferson at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, with the Rev. Mark O. Bartsch officiating. Burial will take place in Christberg Cemetery in Jefferson.

Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the WELS Missions, or Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson County.
