Martha Elizabeth Stewart, 78, whose parents, William and Mary Stewart, were among the county's earliest pioneers, died in a local hospital. She was born in Lakeside, where her family settled in 1890, and had lived there all her life.
Miss Stewart was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Lucerne chapter of the order of Eastern Star, and the Edisekal Club.
Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. J.O. (Anna) Husong of Tulare, Mrs. Albert Wellington, Mrs. Stanley Reinhard, Ethel Stewart and Mrs. Laurence Short, all of Hanford.
