Johanna Gerritsen, 82, of Rock Valley, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997 at the Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley, Iowa. Funeral service was Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley with Rev. Harlan De Jong officiating. Burial was in the Valley View cemetery in Rock Valley. Visitation was Friday at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Gerritsen was born December 18,1914 southwest of Rock Valley, the daughter of William and Tillie (Wassenaar) Ver Mulm. She married Albert Gerritsen, Jr. on September
7, 1934 at Orange City, Iowa. Together they made their home in Rock Valley.
Albert died September 5, 1978. Johanna enjoyed her past few years at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley. She was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church and a member of the Eunice Circle. She always enjoyed the visits from her grandchildren.
She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Albertha Klein and her husband Adrian of Pipestone, MN and Linda Van Otterloo of Rock Valley; her daughter-in-law, Colane Gerritsen of Rock Valley; a brother, Jake Ver Mulm and wife Dorothy of Rock Valley; several sisters-in-law; 10 grandchildren and l7 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donald in 1981; a grandson Michael Van Olterloo; 6 brothers, Case, Frank, Robert in childhood, Herbert, William and Robert; and 2 sisters, Jennie Ver Sluys and Nellie Middle.
