George was a wealthy farmer in Bloomfield Township, Jackson County, Ohio. In November 1826, he was married to Mary Billups (b. 1803, in Hayes Valley, Greenbriar County, Virgina) and they became the parents of ten children. After the death of Mary, he remarried Mrs. Nancy Young in March 1870 in Jackson County, Ohio. He died in June 1875 and was buried in Winchester Cemetery in Bloomfield Township. A beautiful large tombstone marks his grave. Parts of this information are adapted from Mary Poor Hoffer's book, George Poore and his Descendants (1723-1810).

George is the father of my ancester John Poore (1841-1915). He is the son of Hugh Poore and Martha Hutchings Poore.
