Mrs. Annette Popham Bowen, 79, died Monday night (February 14, 2011) at her daughter's residence in Dixie Union after a brief illness.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. She was formerly employed as an accountant for Raz Bowen Service Station. She was a member of Kettle Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church and a life member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary. She will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her family.

Mrs. Bowen is the daughter of the late Jacob Rudolph Popham and Mary Louise Kirton Popham. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip E. Popham and Dorsey E. Popham; a sister, Darlene Popham; a granddaughter, Brianna D. Bowen and two sister-in-laws, Bobbie Popham and Betty Hedgepath.

Survivors include her former husband, John Q. Bowen; three daughters, Janet Taylor (husband George) of Dixie Union, Penny Bowers of Blackshear, and Susan Bowen of Waycross; six grandchildren, Sabrina Tuten (Philip), Scott Griffin (Kay), Charlie Griffin (Kristen), Chad Griffin (April), Brittany Taylor and Jeremy Bowers; three step-grandchildren , Lori Cade (Alton), Donna Sears (Carl), and Georgette O'Berry (Dennis); five brothers, Bill Hedgepath, Wink Popham (Maralee), Russell Popham (Elaine), Jake Popham (Vera Sue), and John Allen Popham (Kaye); one sister-in-law, Chadene Popham; 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, one great great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday (February 18, 2011) at Kettle Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home.
