Lauralynn "Parkey" Elliott, 87, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

She was born June 7, 1923 in Ft. Collins, Colo., the daughter of Raymond Lawrence and Mamie M. (Mueller) Parkerson. She married Ivan A. Elliott Jr. Sept. 17, 1950, and he preceded her in death May 28, 2000. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carmi, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Music. Parkey taught school for one year and was the social director at the University of Illinois Illini Union for five years. Parkey received her nickname in college because of her maiden name.

Parkey is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Ann Elliott of Hays, Kan., Rebecca Sue Griffin and her husband Mike of Loveland, Ohio, and Marjorie Kay Martin and her fiance Joseph W. Johnson, M.D. of Henderson, Nev. Also surviving are a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Aida Elliott of Albuquerque, N.M.

She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Genevieve and William Bengel; her stepmother, Jeanette Parkerson; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ivan Sr. and Malen Elliott.
