He was born September 23, 1906, to the late Eli and Sally Nicholson Books. He married Kate Caldwell Books on February 9, 1930, in Quincy, Illinois. She survives at the home.
He is also survived by a daughter, Mary Katherine Kessler of Lakeland, Florida, four grandchildren, Kathy Kessler of Lakeland, Rebecca Kessler of LaGrange, North Carolina, Gene Kessler of Maryville, Indiana and Carl Kessler, a member of the Armed Forces.
Mr. Books attended public schools in Fulton. He was a self-employed heavy equitment operator and was a member of the Old Auxvasse Presbyterian Church.
Services will be held at 1PM Saturday at the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri with the Reverands Raymond McCallister Jr. and Ray Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Auxvasse Presbyterian Church or Christian Church in Fulton.
