Fulton Gazette-1918:

A delegation of Calwood Township farmers that included Dr. J.M. Tate, W.W. Overfelt, Eli Books, C.H. Cowan and others, conferred its officials of the county council of defense of Fulton relative to the wheat threshing situation in the township.

The farmers of the township have not been able to arrange for the services of a thresher. The delegation that came to Fulton feels that too many machines are going to Nine Mile Prairie, passing Calwood by, and reported that Gray and Hunt, owners of two of the machines, had stated that if the council of Defense would make and order sending one of their machines to Calwood, they would obey it.
