Hilda later married Sam Morris on June 10, 1952. Their respective ranches were sold. Together, they moved to a small farm north of Big Timber where they spent their 35 years together. They traveled for a few years, but then settled down to doing what Hilda loved best, animals: goats, sheep, chickens of all kinds, peacocks, geese, ducks, etc. Hilda also loved to raise flowers and vegetables, which she shared with friends and strangers alike.
After Sam died on April 14, 1987, Hilda moved to Rosebud in December of 1990 to be near her daughter. She later moved to the Rosebud Health Care Center Nursing Home, where she spent the last nine years of her life.
Sam and Hilda were members of the Big Timber Church of God, the Springdale Historic Society and the Rock Club.
