Jennie was awarded as State Volunteer of the Year for her kind deed of over 40 years of making donuts and taking them to rest homes to hand out, along with her kind words. Jennie was an inspiration to us all. She was known for many things, especially walking. She walked quickly and long distances years before walking for health became popular. Jennie out-lived her husband and both of her sons. At 103 ½ years young, I presented Jennie with a donut in recognition of all the donuts she had given to others. She took it and quickly turned to my husband and said, "Young man, I want to give you this donut".
