From the Adrian Daily Telegram, November 18, 1903: "Amos Baker, an old resident of Dover township, has just died in California, where he went a short time ago, we are told, for his health."

Left no family; willed farm and assets to the city of Adrian, MI, for supporting a library system.

From the Adrian Daily Telegram, May 13, 1902, before Baker's death: " (grave decorators) there saw one new monument, interesting from the fact that the one whose name it bears (Amos Baker) is living and believes in no after life. The monument is heart shaped and on one side is cut the name and date of birth with the Latin inscription, "Meo voto" ("By my vow") while on the other side is, "Pro Deo et populo", or "God and the people."
