On the location of Hazleton at this place they moved here and she has been a resident of Hazleton for thirty-five years. Her husband preceeded her to the better land June 13, 1899.
Eight children were born to this worthy couple, all of whom are living with the exception of one son, who died in infancy. They are Frank Allen of Grafton, Cal., Mrs. T. F. Mr. and Mrs. Allen joined the Presbyterian church in 1896 and continued members in good standing till the time of their deaths. Mrs. Allen submitted to an operation for the removal of a tumor almost a year ago, and although she recovered from the operation she has been in feeble health for a number of years. She was found in an unconscious condition on the floor of her bedroom Thursday afternoon, Sept. 1, and although she seemed to suffer very much she regained consciousness but once during her sickness. Mrs. Allen was a kind and devoted mother who gave her best thoughts to her family, a good neighbor and a true friend. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. S. T. Shirley and the remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband in the Hazleton cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful in the extreme.
