I never knew this German born 2nd Great-Grandmother. She married her 1st spouse Sebastian Michael Peter in 1854. Sebastian was a farmer of over a hundred acres. They had nine children. The last child, Sebastian John was born on April sixth and nine days later, Sebastian Michael died on April 15th, 1872. Leaving her a widow with eight children & one newborn infant. Sebastian's probate record, records all their household goods & the farms assets. It gives a detailed account of the things she used as a farmer's wife, & mother of a large family. Several fields with grain planted & growing. A milk cow and sheep for wool, horses, a plow & wagon. She remarried in 1879 to George Scharpf. George had one child, Clarissa from a previous marriage. George was a farmer & Stone Mason. Family's had it tough, but love & God's blessings, always helped them through the tough times. My hope has always been that history & family records would help us, understand what life was like for them. My hope is to also pass on the spirit of Malicai, "and their hearts shall turn to their fathers". History has lessons for us all. The question is, "are we willing to listen to it"? Then are we willing to see the insight it could give us? Then let that insight help us with our own future history. We have a lot in common with them. Can we connect & let their experiences help us.
