Veronica married Mathias (Mateusz) Cupa (also spelled Zoppa) during 1864 and he adopted Joseph. Mathias died during 1866, at age 32, after their son John Copa was born during 1865.
Joseph Copa is believed to have immigrated to Pike Creek Township, Morrison County, about 1885.
Veronica married Martin Andreas Trzebiatowski during 1866 and they had several children born in Poland. About 1890 Martin, Veronica and family immigrated to Winona, Minnesota, where Veronica is buried. Martin is buried at Little Falls (Memorial ID 111764112).

Joseph Copa, 82, died at 12:45 a.m. today, Aug. 2, 1946, at St. Garbiel's Hospital in Little Falls following a lingering illness, pulmonary tuberculosis. He had been hospitalized for six weeks. Funeral services will be conducted at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Monday a 9 a.m. and burial will be at Flensburg.
Coming to the United States as young man from Poland where he was born during 1863, he settled on a farm in Pike Creek Township. On Nov. 25, 1889, he married Frances Tomaszewski in Sobieski (then Swan River). She preceded him in death Jan. 10, 1922. For the past 14 years Mr. Copa made his home in Little Falls.
Surviving are 13 children: John, Spencer, Iowa; Mrs. Clemens Mrozik (Agnes), Little Falls; Alex, Mobile, Ala.; LaVern, Minneapolis; Mrs. Louis Unden (Victoria), Florence, Mont.; Mrs. Robert Tyrell (Josephine), St. Paul; Mrs. Charles Atwell (Martha), New York, N.Y.; Mrs. Florence Lund and Mrs. Marion Costello, Chicago; Mrs. Stanley Antrim (Emily), Stevensville, Mont.; Simon, Idaho; Andrew, Duluth; Mrs. William Morgan, Jr. (Delores), Los Angeles, Calif. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
