The Johnsons' remains and sandstone steles, which were originally in First Presbyterian Churchyard in Downtown Newark, were transferred to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in the 1880's. Joseph Johnson's is distinguished by a finely-carved floral border and winged soul-effigy of the portrait type, reminiscent of the work of the masterful Ebenezer Price of Elizabeth, NJ.
