Zebulon Pike, age 39 of Eddyville,Iowa enlisted Feb 1 1864 into Co I 7th Iowa Infantry.

The 7th Iowa performed garrison duty at Prospect,TN in 1864 until Apr 29 at which point it started on the Atlanta Campaign where it bore a conspicuous part.

"On the 14th May, the regiment met and defeated the enemy in a hard fought battle at Lay's Ferry on the Oostanaula River(near Resaca,Georgia). From this time on the 7th was at the front until the close of the campaign Sep 1 1864" Col T.W. Sweeney 1st Brigade, 2nd Division.

Died Jun 16 1864. Huntsville,Alabama. No burial site listed.
