Born in Boone County Missouri, son of Samuel Crockett(1775 - 1855) and Margaret Rayburn Crockett(1781 - 1832).

REV ROBERT CROCKETT
The Gospel Patriarch who departed this life in Blackwater, January 10, 1900, was one of the best known Pioneer Preachers in this part of the State. Robert Crockett was a son of Samuel Crockett, and was born in Boone CO, MO, September 19, 1820. He moved to Saline CO, MO when about 20 years old, and there married Narcissa Finley, daughter of Dabney Finley. They had eleven children, ten of whom lived to be grown, and nine are living yet. Rev Robert R Crockett, the youngest son is Preaching at Temple, Texas and one daughter, Mrs Mary L Fisher, the oldest of all, lives in Howard CO, MO. The other seven children are in and around Blackwater. Rev Crockett joined the New Lebanon Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1849 and as long as he was physically able he preached the Redeeming Love of a crucified Savior. He served as Pastor at one Church, Salt Fork, for forty years. It was in 1856 he settled on the farm a mile and a half from Blackwater, where John Davis now lives, and spent his life there except the last 8 or 10 years. His first wife died in 1870, Bro Crockett was married to Susan Campbell one year later in Johnson CO, MO. Having nine living children, 51 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, makes a total of 70 living descendents, besides several dead. He was a stanch man of rugged Christian character, and left hosts of friends everywhere he was known. His funeral was conducted at the church where he served so long as pastor, by his old friend Elder C Q Shouse, and he was laid there to rest in the sod of the old church yard, till the time when the just shall rise to an eternity of glory.
