- BLOOMINGTON,MARYLAND -- Robert Harold "Bus" Parsons, 74, of 103 Virginia Ave., Bloomington, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at his residence.

Born July 2, 1936, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harold and Beatrice (Junkins) Parsons. A daughter, Carolyn Kay Warnick; and two sisters, Carol Bryan Evans and Mary Schoppert, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Parsons was a United States Naval veteran, having served during the Korean War. He retired from Westvaco Corp. as a winder operator in the 8 machine room, with 41 years of service. He was a member of the Piedmont Church of God, a member of Victory Post 155 American Legion and a former member of Kelly Mansfield Post 52 American Legion.

He leaves behind his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Smiley) Parsons; three sons, Robert Allen Parsons and wife Marcia of Luke, Denny Parsons and wife Paula of Bloomington, John Parsons and wife Susie of Keyser; and a sister, Janet Barton and husband Tommy of Cresaptown. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Shanna Parsons of Westernport, Kari Lewiki and Shelley Warnick, both of North Carolina, Cherish Clemons and husband Ed of Luke, Allison Devlin and husband Sean of Keyser, Cody Parsons and wife Shayna of Bloomington, Laura Miller and husband Craig of Martinsburg, W.Va., and John R. Parsons and wife Ashley of Keyser; his great-grandchildren, Taylor Biggs, Liam Devlin, Haylee Miller and Joshua Robert, yet to be born.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ada Kittle officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap with full military honors accorded by Post 13 Veteran Honor Guard.
