William "Jack" Anderson, USAF CMSgt. (Ret.), 74, of Ray City, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Smith Northview Hospital.
He was born September 8, 1936 in Trout Dale, VA, and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1985 at Moody Air Force Base, after thirty years of passionate and dedicated service to his country in Air Traffic Control. Jack was also an avid woodworker.
He is survived by four sons, Patrick Anderson and wife Sherril of Atlanta, James E. "Jimbo" Anderson of Ray City, John D. Anderson and wife Lisa of Ray City, and Joseph M. Anderson and wife Teresa of Biloxi, MS; many grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother, David Turnmire and wife Alice; and a sister, Ann Anderson, all of North Carolina. He was predeceased by his mother, Lou Lee Anderson, wife, Bertha C. Anderson, and granddaughter, Alyea Jean Anderson.
Mr. Anderson's family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. this evening (Friday) at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2011 at Three Rivers Free Church of God Cemetery, Gulfport, MS, with Military Honors.
