Born c.1740, nonegenarian Jonathan Williams fought for American independence during the Revolution, serving as a man in his mid-30's and early 40's during the war years. He died at the age of 91 in the autumn of 1831, having lived to see both the triumph of the cause he fought for, and the victory of the young United States over Great Britain in the War of 1812.

NOTE: The "Jonathan Williams" named on the D.A.R. Monument in the churchyard of the First Presbyterian Church ay also honor another individual by this name who is interred here, as his lifespan (1747-1838) makes it likely that he, too, was a veteran of the Revolutionary War.
