JASPER E. TORREY

OBI -- Jasper E. Torrey of 8987 Barber Road, Obi, died Monday (July 8, 1991) in his home after an apparent heart attack.

Born Jan. 3, 1913, in Ceres, Pa., he was a son of Seymour B. and Martha J. Harbeck Torrey. On Feb. 1, 1933, in Shinglehouse, Pa., he married the former Erma D. Burrell, who died in 1983. On July 15, 1985, in Obi, he married the former Margaret Babcock Hall, who survives.

A resident of the Obi-Portville area since 1943, Mr. Torrey had been employed by St. Francis Hospital in Olean before his retirement in 1977.

He was a member of the Portville United Methodist Church, attended the Obi Community Church and was a member of the Portville Senior Citizens and It's Your Heart Club of Olean.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Gayle) Wheeler of Portville; three sons, Thomas E. Torrey and Michael Torrey, both of Portville, and Daniel L. Torrey of Bethlehem, Pa.; a foster daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Joan) Goff of Lockport; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Wayne (Edrie) Loucks of Bolivar; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard E. Torrey; four sisters, Helen Torrey, Naoma Sherman, Laura Sherlock and Nina Maxson; and five brothers, Lionel Torrey, Manley Torrey, Orin Torrey, Lyman Torrey and Adrian Torrey.
