Last Sunday we had the sad duty to accompany our neighbor to his last resting place on Friedens cemetery. Mr. Christ Fricke was born in Grop Niendorf, Mecklenburg, Germany, May 18, 1846. At the age of 14 years he was confirmed and received for his life motto the word: "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life."

In 1867 he married Miss Sophia Bossehl. This union was blessed with seven children, three died in infancy and four, one son Carl and three daughters Anna, Augusta and Sophia mourn his departure.

When the Franco-German war broke out in 1870 he bade farewell to his loving wife and baby and followed the flag to serve his country. Safe and sound the father returned to family after the war, wearing on his coat the sign of bravery and victory, the "Iron Cross."

In 1885 Mr. Fricke came with his family to this country and located at Bensenville, Ill. where they have lived ever since. June 6, 1913 his life companion for over 40 years was called away from his home to the everlasting. It was for him the greatest loss in life. He then made his home with his daughter Mrs. Chas. Olhaber. March 11 he was helping the neighbor saw wood. He was well and happy all day and the task was almost done, only one more piece to saw, when his lifes task was also done.

The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Wagner, was held Sunday in Friedens church. He aged 67 years, 9 months and 21 days. "Boast not thyself of tomorrow for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth."
