CARPENTER—John Wesley Carpenter, a veteran of the Civil war, and a resident of Medford for two years during 1922 and 1924, passed away in Stockton, Cal., January 20. Mr. Carpenter had been In failing health since the death of his wife which occurred in Medford in May, 1923. He served In Company K and H, 12th Pennsylvania reserves, and was a member of Medford post G.A.R. The surviving children are Mrs. John Stockett of California; Mrs. Milo Chalfant, Wyoming; Mrs. Frank Hurd, New Hampshire, and Mrs. Robt. E. Gale of Medford. The body will arrive In Medford this evening and funeral services will be held at the Conger chapel at 2 p. m. Saturday. Rev. E.P. Lawrence will officiate. Interment in Medford cemetery beside his deceased wife.
