Friday, July 11, 1941:

It pleased God in His infinite wisdom and mercy to call to the home eternal the soul of Mrs. Frieda Pilgrim, a resident of Addison township since 1882.

Mrs. Frieda Christina Wilhelmina Pilgrim was born in Germany on March 24, 1867, the daughter of Carl and Sofie Henck. In 1882 she came to America, coming immediately to this locality where she has lived ever since. She was married to William Pilgrim on April 11, 1886 by the Rev. Boerner of St. John's church. Her husband preceded her in death on December 31, 1933. Mrs. Pilgrim and her husband farmed for some years, before they moved into their home on Center street in Bensenville. For the past yeas Mrs. Pilgrim had not been in good health, and on last Tuesday morning she died at the ripe age of 74 years, 3 months and 6 days. The children of the family had done everything that human hands and love could do to prolong the life of their mother, and her passing will leave an ache in their hearts, as in the hearts of many other relatives, neighbors and friends.

There remain to mourn her passing six children: Robert Pilgrim of Bensenville, Mrs. Mary Lemke of Addison township, Mrs. Tillie Sullivan of Bensenville, Mrs. Rose Kreuzer of Elmhurst, Mrs. Martha Jankers and Fred Pilgrim of Bensenville. In addition there are one daughter-in-law, three sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held at Friedens Evangelical church of Bensenville, of which Mrs. Pilgrim was a member on Saturday, July 5th. The songs, "Take Thou My Hand" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul" were sung by Mrs. Orland Dunteman accompanied by Miss Cora Warnecke. The message of comfort was preached by Rev. E. M. Ringe and interment was in Friedens cemetery. Arrangements by Geils Funeral home.
