OBITUARY

Peter Larson Glad

Peter Larson Glad was born June 2, 1867, in Leksand socken, Dalarna, Sweden. He passed away at a farm near Stanhope on December 29, 1927, at the age of 69 years, 6 months, 27 days.

Deceased had been in failing health for a number of years. He had always been a hard worker and had endured many hardships. His constitution was, therefore, broken down even before old age came. Death came as a relief from illness and suffering.

Deceased was baptized in the Christian faith as taught and confessed in the Lutheran State church of Sweden. He received thorough training in the Christian doctrines and was confirmed in his home church in Leksand.

In the spring of the year of 1902, he immigrated to this country and he worked on the Oliver Rehnblom farm, eight miles north of Stratford. Five years later he went to his former home in Sweden for a short visit but returned to Iowa in the year 1909. At this time he made his home at Lehigh. In 1914 he paid another visit to his home congregation in Leksand and remained there for nine years after which he came back to America for a third time. The last four years he had been living with relatives and his son, Eric.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Karin Glad, who resides in Sweden, Eric Glad, of Stanhope and Judith Glad, who at the present time is living in Sweden. One brother also resides in the native country. A host of friends express their sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Lutheran church of Stratford and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Gunnar Goransson. Interment was made in the South Marion cemetery.
