George Feininger was born to Edward Feininger Sr and Mary T. Privratsky Feininger on May 1, 1925. He attended local schools and at the onset of WWII he joined the US Navy and was attached to the 3rd and 5th Fleet as a Gunners Mate. He suffered severe wounds having served in numerous battles, Guadalcanal, Solomons, Midway, Coral Sea Tarawa, Saipan, Corrigedor and Leyte. He spent several days floating in the ocean after one ship was blown out from under him. He received 2 purple hearts, Pacific Theater Medal, Distinguished Service Award and too many others to mention. His first marriage was to Patricia Davis, two children Martin and David were born. He later married Marion Pape, and they had a daughter and son. George worked as a lineman for many years, retiring from the phone company, he later owned an orchard in Oregon. He passed away of a severe heart attack shortly after arriving in Costa Rica in 1992.
