Mrs. Cordelia Allen Dies at Broughton
Mrs. Cordelia Allen, 86, beloved resident of Broughton for many years, died Wednesday afternoon about four o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ollie Gregg in Broughton. She had been very ill for some time, suffering a stroke of paralyssi, which left her helpless.
The passing of Mrs. Allen leaves much sorrow, as she was one of Broughton's oldest citizens and her clear presence will be missed.
Mrs. Allen is survived by one daughter Mrs. Gregg and two sons, C. W. Allen, Broughton, merchant and George Allen. She was the grandmother of James Gregg of Eldorado.
Funeral services will be held Friday at the M.E. Church in Broughton and interment will be in Gholson Cemetery near there.

Obituary
Cordelia Allen, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Hardesty, was born March 19, 1842 and died March 21, 1928. Age 86 yrs. and 2 days.
She was married to Samuel B. Allen Oct. 22, 1865 and to this union eight children were born, four of whom died in infancy, and James Harley at the age of 27 years.
She was survived by Ollie Gregg, George and Chas. Allen, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Samuel B. Allen, her husband, preceded her in death by eleven years one month and ten days.
She became a member of the Pleasant Grove Church in 1867, where she maintained her membership until death.
Funeral services were held in the M E Church at Broughton Friday morning, March 23. The male quartet sang three impressive numbers and Mr. Young an intimate friend, read the obituary and made some remarks in eulogy of the life. The sermon was preached by Rev. C. M. Prince of Norris City, and the body was laid to rest in the Gholson Cemetery.
