"Richard Paris of Dagenham labourer, [made his will] ___, 10 Eliz. [1580].
To Mary my wife the lease and term of years of my house wherein I dwell, which I had of my master, George Scott of Chigwell esquire; after her decease, the residue of the years if she live so long to my two sons John and William equally divided. To John 5 of my best ewes, put out to his best benefit, and 40s. at 21. To William 40s. at 21. To William Paris my brother 2 ewes and all my wearing apparel, i.e. coats, hosen, doublets, shoes, boots and 1 shirt. To my old master, Mr. George Scott of Chigwell, and Mr William and Mr Robert Scott his sons each half a crown of gold for a token and remembrance of me. If my wife marry, he with whom she intendeth to marry shall be bound with surety of 10 pounds to my overseers to perform my Will. The residue of my goods to my wife, whom I make executrix, and I hope she will be good and loving mother to my two sons and see them brought up in the fear of God and be a careful mother for them to the uttermost of her power. I make overseer William Scott of Chigwell and Robert Scott of Hornchurch gentlemen. Witnesses: William Scott, Robert Scott, John Hothersolle alias Gilberd, Lewis Goffe, Richard Smith. Proved 18 May 1580."
