Angie attended the Indian Boarding School in Fort Yuma through the 1920s. In 1933, she married Roman Bernal. It was at this time that she began building a foundation for her family that was based on love, honor, and hard work. In 1949, Angie and Roman moved to their final home in Parker, Arizona to become farmers and continue to raise their family. In the years that followed Angie dedicated her time to many community development programs including involvement in many activities on the CRIT Reservation, the Parker DOEs, Fair Board and Fair Commissioner. Angie became one of the first 4-H club leaders in the Parker Valley.
Angelita leaves behind her family, Rufina Allen (Mike), Ralph Bernal (Mary Lou), Christine Fierros (Ronnie, deceased), Raymond Bernal (Mary) Joe Bernal (Nemesia) and grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
The family will get together on Friday, February 25, 2011 in final honor of our beloved matriarch as we celebrate her life, her memory and her love-and it is with great difficulty, and heavy hearts that we will say goodbye... for now.
