Lawrence G. Giffen, 75, of Vienna, died Friday, Oct. 24, at Camden-Clark Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Wirt County, a son of the late David and Daisy Ahart Giffen. He was a member of the Rose Hill Methodist Church, and formerly worked at Mountain State Steel. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Violet; three sons, Ralph of Belpre, Clyde of Vienna, David of Wheeling; three daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Gains of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Violet Marshall of Texas, Mrs. Sherri Byers of Vienna; one sister, Miss LaVada Giffen, Parkersburg; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant son; a grandson; three brothers; six sisters. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Franklin & Son Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walter Frost officiating.
