Ruth Gelfer Igoe, a White Plains resident, died March 5, 2011 at the age of seventy-nine.

She was born August 18, 1931 in New York City to Louis and Ethel Ditchik. Ruth volunteered as an Ombudsman for the White Plains Center for Nursing Care for many years.

She is survived by her children, Janet (Edward) Gorman of White Plains, Lynne (Jon) Rose of White Plains, Susan (Lawrence) Ginsberg of Barrington, RI, and Diane (Joseph) Suppa of Port Chester, NY. She was also step-mother to Kathy Krier, Cyndi Koppany, Nancy Weats, John Igoe, and Jeff Igoe. Ruth is also survived by her sister Grace Oshin of White Plains, her grandchildren, Lauren, Meghan, Patrick, Melissa, Julia, Sarah, and Evan, and a great-granddaughter Elyse. She is predeceased by her husband Monroe Gelfer (1982) and her second husband John Igoe (2000) as well as her brother Philip Ditchik. She touched the lives of all who knew her.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Congregation Kol Ami in the Chapel in the Woods.
Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
The family will be sitting Shiva at 8 Susan Court, White Plains, on Monday following the burial until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m.
