Larry Lee Schwartz, age 24, of 123 W. Elm Street in Streator, was killed at 9 o'clock yesterday morning while working in Peru.
According to reports Larry was working as a construction worker for the Chicago Bridge and Iron and was struck on the left side of his head by a crane boom. The firm was constructing a large industrial building.
Schwartz was cleaning snow off plates used for storage tanks when the accident happened.
He was living in Streator with his sister, Mabel Christensen.
He was born Jan. 1, 1945 in Olney, son of Everett Schwartz and Luvicia Robinson Schwartz, who are now residents of Calhoun, Rt. 1.
In addition to his parents, he leaves five brothers, John W. of Bridgeport, Glen of Streator, Everett Jr. of Bridgeport, Galen of the U.S. Air force in Phoenix, Ariz., and Kenneth of Calhoun; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Christensen of Streator; and his grandmother, Mrs. Eva Schwartz of Olney.
One sister, Betty, is deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Rainey Funeral Home, with Rev. Jess Kindred officiating. Interment will be in the Dundas Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
