Margaret Neil(l) was born in 1814 in Belfast, Ireland, according to her death certificate, and married William McKay about 1835. Her family may have been either Irish (O'Neill) or Scottish (McNeill). Her husband, William McKay (1813-1860) died in 1860 in Dodge County, Wisconsin, just after the 1860 Census and before the start of the Civil War.
