WASHBURN — June T. Sampson, age 86, of Washburn, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at the Memorial Medical Center in Ashland. She was born June 9, 1915, in Washburn, the daughter of Ernest R. and Lillian A. (Poehler) Tetzner. She married Henry F. Sampson on Feb. 1, 1934, in Washburn. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1999. She attended Progress School and Washburn High School. June graduated from Northland College in 1962. She taught school in Bayfield for four years and worked as the Librarian at the Ondossagon School for 14 years. She retired in 1980. June was a member of the Sewing Club, the Homemakers Club in Washburn and she enjoyed writing poetry for special occasions. She is survived by a daughter, Diana Hildreth, Bloomington, Minn.; four sons, Larry (Kathy) Sampson, Kenosha, Donald (Anna) Sampson, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Gene (Mary) Sampson, Portland, Ore., and Mickey (Gwen) Sampson, Washburn; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Philip (Beverly) Tetzner, Washburn; two sisters, Florence Lamoreaux, Washburn, and Lois Tetzner, Washburn; a sister-in-law, Helen Tetzner, Hayward, and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Armourita Esswein and Patricia Bachand, and two brothers, Willis Tetzner and Ronald Tetzner. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn, with Fr. Joseph Hagen, O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Washburn. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., all at the Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn.
