Margaret Humes Volts was born December 8, 1890 at Patoka, and died March 4, 1970 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital Effingham. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Humes of Patoka. She was married to R.K. Volts on Aug. 1, 1922 at Sandoval.
Surviving are her husband R.K. Volts of Effingham; one daughter, Mrs. M.D. Merry (Gwendolyn) Merry of Effingham; four grandchildren, Dr. Richard Merry of Shelbyville; Steve, Gwen Dean, and Margaret Merry of Effingham, and one sister Mrs. Edna Benoist of Mt. Vernon.
Funeral Services were held at Sacred Heart Church at 9 a.m. on March 7, 1970. Burial was in Oakridge cemetery, Effingham.
Mrs. Volts was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Effingham Women's Club.
