Elizabeth was the daughter of Josef ORTMANN and Theresia NAHRHAFT and was born in the town of Plan, Bohemia (modern Plana, Tachov, Czech Republic). She married Engelbert MANN, also a resident of Plan (but born in Nemcany [Niemtschau], Bohemia).
Elizabeth emigrated to the United States in 1882 and her husband followed the next year. Her children were Anton, Theresia Catherine (m. MÜLLER), Julia (m. HASSE), Charles W., Maria, Anna, Sofia and William.
Her husband and step-son John are buried in Holy Name Cemetery in the MANN family plot there.
