Born to John Peter "Peter" and Mary Ann (Dennis) Gooley. She married Charles Godfrey Brenay (born Carl Gottfried Brunne in Grossoerner, Saxe, Prussia, now Germany) on Mar 17, 1892 in Alpena, Michigan. She moved with her husband and eldest daughter Lillie to Arnstein, Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada where her husband operated a lumber camp and she was the cook. Her second child James "Elmer" was born there as were Charles "Albert, William Arthur "Art", Pearl Mae, and Mable Agnes. Between 1902 and 1903 the family moved back to Alpena County, Michigan where Norman George Earl, Nina Violet Gertrude "Gertie", Benjamin Edward Harrison "Ted", Laura Gladys Ida, and Lloyd Robert were born.
