One Killed In
Automobile Crash

One youth was killed, a young girl
seriously injured and two other persons
confined to a Canastota hospital
as the result of an automobile accident
on the road between Five
Corners and Oneida, Tuesday night.
Albert Flagler, aged fourteen, son
of Mr. and Mrs. John Flagler, died
from concussion of the brain after
being rushed to the Broad Street
Hospital, and Elizabeth Barbano,
aged fourteen, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Barbano, is confined in
the same institution with a slight
concussion of the brain. Hope is held
for her complete recovery.
Mrs. Earl Hough and son Rich-
ard of Canastota, are in a hospital
in that village, the former suffering
with a broken wrist and cuts and the
latter with bruises and cuts.
Albert Flagler, in company with
Antonio Angelino and Frank Rice,
all of Oneida, were riding, Elizabeth
Barbano, Susan Puretta and Josephine
Augustine, respectively, on the
handlebars of their bicycles towards
Oneida from the five corners, when
the accident occurred. Earl Hough,
Canasota Automobile dealer, with his
wife and three children was travel-
ing in the same direction, when the
machine struck the bicycle of Albert
Flagler, who was pedalling nearest
to the center of the road of the trio
of youths.
The automobile left the road,
plunged down a ten-foot embankment
and turned over with its wheels
in air. The machine was badly damaged
and it is considered a miracle
the occupants did not receive more
serious injuries.
