John D. Patton, 65, longtime Pittsburgh pharmacist and a native of Waynesburg, died Monday evening, Sept. 14, 1942, in a Pittsburgh hospital. Death was due to pneumonia, but Mr. Patton had been in ill health for some time.
Born in Waynesburg, July 22, 1887, he was a son of the late Dr. A. B. Patton, for many years one of Waynesburg's leading physicians, and Mrs. Mary Hunnell Patton, also deceased. He attended Waynesburg College and was graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. Since his graduation at Pitt he had been engaged in the pharmacy business in Pittsburgh.
Besides his wife, Julia Winter Patton, he leaves two daughters, Mary Jane and Eleanor Louise, at home; one sister, Laura, wife of W. Russell Lippencott, of Washington, Pa., and one brother, Harry Patton, of Pittsburgh. A sister, Mrs. John B. Miller, of Pittsburgh, died only a few weeks ago.
