Son of Mrs. Fortunato Acampora who resided in New Haven, Connecticut.

Albert served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-24J #42-51642, 716th Bomber Squadron, 449th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in New Haven County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 24, 1943 in New Haven, Connecticut. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of miscellaneous products and also as Single, with dependents.

B-24J #42-51642 took off from Grottaglie Army Air Base, Italy on a bombing mission over the Isarc-Albes railroad bridge in northern Italy. After a successful bombing run B-24J #42-51642 had 2 engines damaged by ground anti-aircraft fire and they crashed near Lake Wiezen in Austria.

Albert was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

In 2015 the plane was found with possibly 3 remains still on board. One of the three was identified as Richard M. Horwitz in 2017.
