Texas Coaster, March 25, 1954:

Judge Frank Williford, Jr. 68, of Houston, died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday of last week in a Houston hospital. He was a native of Fort Bend County and was well known by the old-timers in this county.

Judge Williford had lived in Houston 66 years, and was a criminal district judge. He was a member of the Methodist church, Gray Lodge No. 329 A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies, Arabia Temple Shrine, and past state president of the FOE.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Williford of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. William P. Powell of Houston and Mrs. Leonard M. Murphy of Johnson City; a son, Frank Williford III of Houston; five grandchildren; and two aunts.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Geo. H. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery under auspices of Gray Lodge.

Criminal District Judge Frank Williford, Jr. of Houston, widely known jurist, passed away in a Houston hospital last Wednesday morning following an illness that struck him during the 1953 Christmas holiday season.

The 68-year-old judge was a colorful, outspoken man who fought crime all of his life. He was born on his father's TU cattle ranch on the banks of Oyster Creek in Fort Bend County on Sept. 27, 1886, scion of a family long identified with Fort Bend history. The family moved to Houston while he was a boy and he was reared and educated there.
