According to stories, John left Russia, (there was no Poland at that time) He left when the Czar was roaming the Polish occupies territories taking all Polish men from ages of 15 to whomever they could take. John made it to the USA. He went to work for the Erie Rail Road as a journeyman and an engineer through training.
John met Stefania through Polish social networks so to speak. They were married in 1914 at St. Anne Polish Roman Catholic Church on Tonnelle Ave. Jersey City NJ.starting off their family.
Tragedy struck the family in 1923 during the construction of the Holland Tunnel when their Joseph was run over by a delivery truck.
John owned and operated a "mom & pop" candy store with his wife Stefania on Chestnut Avenue in Jersey City NJ until 1968.
