Son of John Grantham (1785-1787) and his wife Ann Brown (1727-1800)

Richard was one of the Heroes who fought at the Battle of King's Mountain.

The battle fought at Kings Mountain (7 October 1780) has been declared to be the turning point of the American Revolution in the South. Naturally, there is a keen interest in determining who fought in this significant encounter. This book is based on Federal Pension Applications; State payments; Draper's Manuscripts; Heitman's List of Continental officers; Muster Rolls; and other primary resources. The entries are alphabetic by surnames and contain the following, if found: date and place of birth; name of wife; data and place of marriage. This is documented by: Bobby Gilmer Moss
