Merrill H. Merry Jr.
A celebration of life for Merrill H. Merry Jr. of Deming will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Westford Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at a later date in Greensburg, Kan.
Mr. Merry died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Mount Baker Care Center. He was 75.
Born Jan. 27, 1926, to Merrill Harrison Merry and Sarah Madonna (Matlock) Merry in Attica, Ind, he grew up in Tucumcari, N.M.
In 1943, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as an aerial gunner in Europe during World War 2.
Following his discharge in 1947, he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Universidy of Denver. He also was a licensed real estate broker and owned and operated a real estate office in Scottsdale, Ariz.
On Sept. 28, 1976, he married Nancy Hardy in Greensburg and they lived in Scottsdale until his retirement from Motorola Inc. They moved to Deming in 1991.
Survivors include his wife of Deming, daughters Helen Simmons of Mount Vernon, Solea Ray of Sedro-Wooley, Claudia Bennett of Forest Hill, Calif., Joella Zimmerman of Los Alamos, N.M. and Janell Merry of Albuquerque, N.M. sister Dene Gorton of El Paso, Texas one niece one nephew and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
